Ukrainian prosecutors in Donetsk region have launched an investigation into the destruction of the historical cultural monument of the Did mound in Mariupol by the occupiers. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, UNN reports.
Under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was initiated in the criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It is noted that on March 25, 2024, information appeared on media resources about the destruction of another cultural property in the occupied Mariupol by the Russian occupation authorities.
According to investigators, representatives of the aggressor state destroyed the ancient historical monument of the Did mound, dating back to the fifth millennium BC, with excavators.
Prosecutors note that such actions are a violation of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property and the Provisions to the IV Convention relative to the Laws and Customs of War on Land.
Prosecutors are taking all possible and appropriate measures to document war crimes committed by representatives of the Russian armed forces.
