Law enforcement agencies have notified a Kyiv resident of suspicion of fraud—she is charged with large-scale fraud committed using electronic computing equipment (Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This was reported by UNN with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Details
According to the investigation, the woman registered a fake Facebook page using a photo of a young girl. The suspect's conversations with the victim moved from correspondence to phone calls and talk of love.
The perpetrator fabricated stories about serious illnesses—initially coronavirus, and later terminal cancer requiring urgent treatment abroad. Over four months, she swindled more than 710,000 hryvnias from the man, which she spent on her own needs and recreation.
Later, the parents of the victim, who turned out to be a serviceman, intervened.
The relatives doubted the truthfulness of the story. Eventually, the serviceman himself began to notice contradictions in the stories and later found the real profile of the girl whose photos were used in the fake account,
During the search, 140,000 hryvnias were discovered and seized from the detainee. She faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years.
