The parliament may consider at the conciliation board the statements of the head of the Platform for Life and Peace parliamentary group Yuriy Boyko regarding criticism of the language policy and the demolition of monuments that repeat Russian propaganda. This was reported by the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratyuk, UNN reports with reference to Radio Liberty.
“The issue of unity is the key to Ukraine's future. So, of course, when we see such expressive statements, it is only evidence that some political forces have smelled the election. And this is very shameful, in my opinion... They need a political adequate response. I think that we will also consider this at the Conciliation Board of the Parliament - the first thing. And secondly, of course, each of us as a citizen will give an assessment of this,” Kondratiuk said on December 16, speaking to journalists at the forum ”Law and Justice: Strengthening Cooperation in Times of War.
Answering a question about what the parliament could do in this case, Kondratiuk urged to wait for a decision.
“We will see what the parliament can do in this case. The worst thing that can happen is that Russia uses this issue as well. The disorder in the country that may appear in the parliament will only play into Russia's hands,” the Vice Speaker emphasized.
Context
MP Yuriy Boyko posted a video on TikTok in which he spoke about “radicals” who rename cities, demolish monuments, and also mentioned the language and the church. The Center for Countering Disinformation and the President's Office criticized his position.
