NATO admiral: russia's rhetoric on use of nuclear weapons differs from reality

Currently, there is nothing to indicate that Russia may use nuclear weapons. This was stated by the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, during the 16th annual Kyiv Security Forum, UNN reports with reference to the Forum's press service.

Today, we do not see anything in Russia that could lead to the use of nuclear weapons

- Bauer said.

He added that Russia's rhetoric on the use of nuclear weapons differs from the reality. "At the same time, we are carefully watching what is happening there," the admiral said.

However, Bauer noted that on the  front, the Russian army is learning from its mistakes. However, at present, the Russians do not have the ability to wage modern warfare.

"This does not mean that this is a perfect army or that they are doing everything they planned in terms of coordination and command and control of troops. They have huge problems. The way they are using artillery shows that they do not have the ability to conduct modern warfare and maneuver in the way that modern warfare requires. Artillery shelling is a World War II tactic," Bauer said.

According to him, Russia can produce more missiles and shells, so NATO countries will have to increase the production of munitions themselves.

"The production rate should be increased, and the financial resources are available for this," said the admiral.

Addendum

Rob Bauer also noted that last year the world was too optimistic about the war in Ukraine, and in 2024 this mistake should not be repeated. Ukraine needs even more support now.
