By raising the excise tax on fuel, MPs are destroying the liquefied gas market, which is a social fuel in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by energy expert Gennadiy Ryabtsev in an exclusive commentary UNN
"Owners of cars that run on LPG are very unlucky, and many will probably refuse to use this resource. The MPs have simply destroyed the LPG market and are doing everything they can to ensure that it is not those who drive expensive cars who pay more, but those who tried to somehow reduce the impact of rising prices on their budgets," Ryabtsev said.
According to him, LPG has always been a social fuel.
"Now the MPs have deprived Ukrainians of social fuel, prices for this resource will increase by 5-7 UAH, and maybe this fuel will disappear in some networks altogether. But it will be very difficult to predict anything with this type of resource. I don't know how to evaluate it at all, probably some of the MPs have improved their financial situation after the vote," Ryabtsev said.
At the same time, he added that starting in September, gasoline prices will increase by about UAH 2 per liter, and diesel prices will increase by UAH 1-1.2 per liter.

The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law raising the excise tax on fuel. The document stipulates that the excise tax rate for gasoline will be 359 euros per 1000 liters, for diesel - 330 euros, and for gas - 70 euros. It will take place over 4 years until 2028 and will start on September 1.

Commenting on the increase in fuel excise taxes, Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, once again resorted to the usual explanation he uses every time he insists on increasing taxation: the army needs the money. "Today, people who criticize the excise tax increase know perfectly well that there is no alternative to raise excise taxes or not to raise them. The only alternative is either to pay salaries to the military or not to pay them," he said.
