Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that on behalf of 120 countries of the Global South, he came to Ukraine with a message of peace, which is that India supports respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He said this during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, UNN reports .

Your Excellency, you know very well, and the whole world knows, that India has a dual role in this war, and we are doing our best to fulfill our role. First, from a humanitarian perspective. During the crisis, there are several types of needs that the people of Ukraine are facing and to meet those needs, we have taken the humanitarian side of things and we have done our best to ensure that those needs are met and I can assure you that in the future, from that humanitarian perspective, we will always be with you and you will see that we are always two steps ahead

- Modi said.

According to him, the second aspect of India's role  was to stay out of the war.

But this did not mean that we were just indifferent observers. We never accepted this role. We have never been neutral, and from the first day we took the side of peace

- Modi assured.

He also said that he came to Ukraine with a message of peace.

Arriving on Ukrainian soil, I came with a message of peace. A few days ago, I hosted the third Global South Summit, which was attended by 120 countries. On behalf of these countries of the Global South, I have come to you with a message of peace. You are well aware and know that India has made an active contribution to the cause of peace. And you also know that our approach has been people-centered. I want to tell you and the world that our belief and our commitment, and we are speaking very loudly and clearly, is that we are not going to let this go. The message is that we support respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. This is a top priority for us

- Modi said.
