The adoption by PACE of the resolution "Support for the Restoration of Ukraine" means that Ukraine is moving towards an international compensation mechanism. This was reported by Maria Mezentseva, MP and head of the Verkhovna Rada's permanent delegation to PACE, to UNN.
"This means that we are supplementing the decision already made to create the Register of Damages. That is, it is a submission by Ukrainians regarding the war crime that happened to them. This applies to absolutely all cases. Both material and non-material. For example: sexual violence, missing relatives, abducted children, etc. And of course, destroyed buildings and infrastructure. This makes it possible not only for individuals, but also for businesses to submit such applications, which was not the case before," Mezentseva said.
She noted that this can be done through Diia.

"After the Register, we need to accumulate funds. And these funds should not be French, English... They should be Russian, and therefore we are talking about at least $300 billion of frozen assets. But in fact, there are much more... I am sure that today we are "passing the ball" to the cabinets of 46 countries. Only 9 months have passed since we initiated the Register of Losses and today we are already moving towards a compensation mechanism," Mezentseva said.
