A powerful explosion, according to authorities, has destroyed at least one house in a Washington, D.C., suburb as police executed a search warrant, UNN reports citing the BBC.
Details
Before the explosion in Arlington, Virginia, police reported that someone from the house fired as officers tried to enter.
"As officers attempted to search the home, the suspect fired several shots inside the home. An explosion subsequently occurred in the residence and law enforcement is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the explosion," Arlington County Police said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Earlier, police said they responded to a report of someone firing a rocket launcher from a home on Monday night.
One of the released videos shows a riot police vehicle approaching the apartment building at the time of the explosion.
Some residents of the neighborhood said on social media that they felt their houses shaking.
Officers who arrived at the scene reported only minor injuries. However, it is unclear whether the suspect was injured or detained.
Some residents were evacuated by police, while others were ordered to shelter in place.
Firefighters extinguished the fire.
