The tragedy occurred during and after a football match in the city of Nzerekore on Sunday.
According to sources in local hospitals, at least 100 people were killed, in particular, in the hospital and morgue of the city. One of the doctors, who asked to remain anonymous, confirmed the high number of victims. Another medic also reported dozens of deaths.
The causes of clashes between fans are still being investigated, but similar incidents are noted during sporting events in West African countries, where football matches are often accompanied by violence and clashes.
