Latvian accused of planning sabotage in Ukraine

A Latvian citizen, Ivan Tarabanov, is accused of attempting to illegally participate in the war in Ukraine and planning sabotage by arson on the orders of an unknown person named "Alexander".

In Latvia, prosecutors have charged a citizen of the country on suspicion of traveling to Ukraine to commit sabotage. This is reported by Delfi, according to UNN.

Ivan Tarabanov is accused of attempting to illegally participate in the war and traveling for the purpose of terrorism.

His trial in the Riga City Court is scheduled for June 7. He is currently in custody.

It is reported that in January 2022, Tarabanov went to participate in the war in Ukraine. Having received an assignment from an unknown person named "Oleksandr," he was to conduct a sabotage using arson elements on the territory of Ukraine. The details are not disclosed.

The case was investigated by the State Security Service of Latvia.

The agency is currently checking information about the possible illegal participation of other Latvian citizens in the war in Ukraine on the side of the Russian armed forces.
