Despite the sanctions, many large foreign companies, such as Leroy Merlin, Philip Morris, PepsiCo, Auchan, Nestle, Alibaba, Unilever, Mondelez and Xiaomi, continue to operate in russia, providing resources that could help the kremlin in its military actions against Ukraine.

Well-known foreign companies continue to work in russia despite the aggression against Ukraine. This is reported by the Center for National Resistance, UNN reports.

Details

After the start of russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine, many Western companies announced their intention to cease their operations in the terrorist state. However, over time, the situation has changed somewhat: some of these companies actually continue to operate in russia, while others, although they have reduced their presence in the russian market, have not completely ceased operations.

Currently, according to the Kyiv School of Economics, more than 1,600 companies continue to operate in the russian market. Some of them, such as Philip Morris, Leroy Merlin, and PepsiCo, have not been subject to international sanctions because they do not directly contribute to the russian military machine.

According to the russian Forbes, despite the difficult political situation and the global boycott of business in connection with the aggressive war against Ukraine, some of the largest international companies continue to operate in russia. Here are the Top 10 of them:

1. Leroy Merlin: the French company specializing in the sale of construction products maintains its position in the russian market, with revenues of $4 billion, owned by the Association Familiale Mulliez.

2. JT Group: the Japanese tobacco company continues to operate in russia, paying attention to the growth of revenues during the war.

3. Philip Morris International: although the company promised to withdraw from russia in 2022, it later changed its mind and continues to operate in the russian market.

4. PepsiCo: the American corporation continues to produce and sell its products in the russian market.

5. Auchan: the French retail chain specializing in food sales continues to operate in the russian market.

6. Nestle: the Swiss giant continues to sell its products in russia, focusing on essential goods.

7. Alibaba: the Chinese e-commerce store continues to operate through the AliExpress joint venture.

8. Unilever: the global company continues to sell consumer goods in the russian market.

9. Mondelez: the American confectionery company continues to operate in russia.

10. Xiaomi: The Chinese mobile phone manufacturer continues to have a strong presence in the russian market, holding a dominant position in the smartphone segment.

Important

Economic pressure on the aggressor country is necessary for several reasons. First of all, it helps to reduce the resources used to support military operations and aggressive actions. Refusal to cooperate with russian companies deprives the kremlin of financial resources used to finance the war in Ukraine and the development of the military-industrial complex.

Second, economic pressures could lead to a decline in the russian economy, making it more difficult for the kremlin to finance military operations and develop weapons programs. Reduced access to foreign technology, goods, and capital could limit russia's ability to produce new weapons and develop its military capabilities.
