In August, the Vinogradar-1 pumping station in Kyiv will undergo scheduled maintenance. During the flushing of the reservoirs, clean artesian water will be discharged into the dried-up Lake Syne, which is located in the Podil district of Kyiv. This was reported by Pleso, UNN reports.
"According to PJSC Kyivvodokanal, according to the annual schedule, the Vynohradar-1 pumping station will be flushing clean water tanks," Pleso said in a statement.
The works will be carried out from August 7 to 14 inclusive.
During these events, clean artesian water will reportedly be discharged into Lake Syne.
Pleso pointed out that artesian water passes through the earth's natural filters, so it is clean and safe for the environment.
They stated that the artesian water to be discharged into the lake does not contain any harmful impurities and meets all sanitary standards.
In addition, flushing of the clean water tanks is reportedly a standard procedure to ensure proper functioning of the pumping station and to maintain the quality of the water supply. Water discharge is part of this procedure.
The Pleso utility reminded that it had announced five times that an open bidding procedure (tender) would be held to implement measures to clean up the reservoir. However, each time the tender was canceled either due to the inability of the participants to prepare the documents properly or due to the submission of proposals that exceeded the established funding limit.
Pleso assured that they will continue to work on the project to restore Lake Syne and will soon announce a new tender.
