Rescuers in Odesa region have been trying to get people out of snow traps for two days. However, in most cases, the reason for the emergency on the roads is the deliberate disregard of instructions by drivers, UNN reports .
One such case is the infamous Istanbul-Odesa bus of the "Like Bus" carrier, which yesterday was traveling with people and children and got stuck on the Izmail highway.
Despite the ban on traffic on the highway, the driver decided to take a detour instead of stopping at a settlement or gas station, leaving him stuck with people and children in the middle of the road. Luckily, no one was injured while the vehicles were trying to reach them for hours , says Yulia Koltak
And there are dozens, maybe hundreds, of drivers like that who took to the roads of Odesa region after the weather warning. According to the State Emergency Service, at least 18 buses were freed from snowdrifts over the course of the day.
The head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, posted a video yesterday of a moped driver trying to control the elements and drive on the road despite the snowstorm.
According to him, they hope to free people from the snowdrifts by the end of the day.
