The Cabinet of ministers has made changes to the list of narcotic substances. Kratom plants, which are often used in the basis of teas, were banned from selling, reports UNN.

According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 1306 of November 15, the list of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and precursors was changed. Specifically, this list now includes kratom, which is often found in teas and has physiological effects similar to opioids and stimulants.
This was also announced in the social network X people's deputy Dmitry Gurin.
The reason for the ban on the sale of Krutoy was the presence of active substances in the leaves of the plant: mitragynine and 7-hydroxysymtragynine, which can have a stimulating effect, as well as give a feeling of euphoria.
With reference to information from the World Health Organization, kratom serves as an excellent pain reliever. Also, the substances contained in the leaves of the plant can act as an energy drink or in large doses as a sedative.
Kratom is a plant that mainly grows in Southeast Asia. Kratom is usually consumed in the form of drinks or decoctions. In Ukraine, before the ban, such drinks were very popular among young people, so they could be purchased in any coffee shop or shops.
Kratom is recognized by the EU Early Warning System as a new psychoactive substance, but its turnover remains unlimited at the EU level. At the same time, kratom is already banned in most European countries.
