Drone fragments damaged technical facilities in the port infrastructure of Odesa, and in Rozdilnyansky district, an inactive administrative building and a warehouse of a mothballed facility were damaged and a fire broke out. "On Christmas Eve, the enemy insidiously attacked the southern regions on a massive scale. First, tactical aviation fired X-59 missiles in the direction of Kropyvnytskyi and X-31P missiles in the direction of Chornomorsk in Odesa region. The air defense units did an excellent job - both missiles were destroyed," the Southern Defense Forces said on Telegram.
And then, as indicated, a drone attack raged for more than six and a half hours. "In intense combat operations, the air defense forces destroyed 22 Shahed-136 strike UAVs: 17 in Odesa region, 3 in Kherson region, 1 in Mykolaiv region, 1 in Kirovohrad region," the Southern Defense Forces reported.
Reportedly, enemy drones launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea were attacking from different directions, trying to deplete our air defense and hit as many targets as possible. "The enemy's priority remains the port infrastructure and other objects important for the existence of the region," the Southern Defense Forces noted.
"The wreckage of the downed UAV caused damage to the technical premises in the port infrastructure of Odesa, and in Rozdilnyansky district, the wreckage also damaged an inoperable administrative building and a warehouse of a mothballed facility, the fire was quickly extinguished. No people were injured," the Southern Defense Forces reported.
It is also reported that the Beryslav district of Kherson region was hit. "A fire broke out in the warehouses, which firefighters have already extinguished," the Southern Defense Forces said.
