In the Lviv region, a 24-year-old driver who crashed into a patrol car, caused a fatal accident, and is likely involved in the murder of his mother was detained, reported on Wednesday by the National Police, writes UNN.

The incident occurred today, June 24, at approximately 07:10 on Hlynska Street in the city of Pustomyty, near Lviv.
It was preliminarily established that a patrol police crew spotted an Audi Q5 without a front license plate. When the police turned on their flashing lights and turned around to stop the driver, he began moving at high speed towards the exit from Lviv, colliding with the police vehicle. Subsequently, he lost control and had a head-on collision with a Volkswagen.
"The impact threw the Volkswagen into the yard of a private house, where it overturned. As a result of the accident, the driver of the Volkswagen, a resident of the Lviv region, died at the scene from his injuries," the police stated.
The driver of the Audi, a 24-year-old resident of Lviv, was detained by patrol police officers.
"In Lviv, we detained a driver who caused a fatal accident and is likely involved in a murder," reported the Patrol Police of Ukraine.
"The man also stated that he killed his mother. Information about the woman's death was confirmed: the woman was found in her apartment with stab wounds," the National Police noted.
Based on these facts, investigators of the Lviv region police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 115 (Premeditated Murder) and Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The man "was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code and sent for a medical examination."
