The head of a military commissariat in Donetsk region was detained for demanding a 15,000 UAH bribe for issuing a deferral from mobilization. The detained lieutenant colonel faces up to 8 years in prison. This was reported by the Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Eastern Region, UNN reports.

“The head of the RTCC and JV department, using his official position, verbally demanded that the serviceman provide him with an unlawful benefit in the amount of UAH 15,000. In return, the lieutenant colonel promised to influence the members of the regional military qualification commission and “correctly” fill out the conclusion,” the statement said.
The ministry added that the conscript was threatened with mobilization if he refused to pay.
During the searches, the suspected head of the TCC was found to have UAH 15,000 in bribes, as well as UAH 158,600, a USD 5,000 mobile phone, a notebook with drafts, and documents for an applicant for a deferment from mobilization.
Under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the suspect faces three to eight years in prison. The lieutenant colonel was taken into custody.
The Donetsk regional TCC commented on this event.
“The command and personnel of the Donetsk JTCC and JFO strongly condemn any manifestations of corruption as shameful and unacceptable and call on citizens to immediately inform law enforcement agencies if they find signs of violation of anti-corruption legislation. Based on the results of the pre-trial investigation and in accordance with the court decision, the necessary disciplinary and personnel measures will be taken,” the statement said.
