A 26-year-old serviceman suspected of killing and attempting to kill police officers in Vinnytsia region said he planned to "disable" the policeman to hide grenades in his trunk, but a second policeman suddenly came out and started shooting at him, reports a UNN correspondent.

Vitaliy, 26, admitted that he had killed a man during the consideration of the motion for a preventive measure.
He also said that he did not want to kill the policeman. He expected that he and his father had been stopped by only one policeman, whom he planned to "disable" in order to hide two boxes of grenades in the trunk and escape.
When we were stopped by a police car, one policeman came out and I watched for a long time, but there was no one else. That is, I did not see the second policeman at all. I thought that he might be alone... There was one policeman in front of me who wanted to see what was in my trunk, so to speak. I didn't want him to know what was in the boxes, because I realized that this was also a problem, an article. When I realized that he was alone, we approached the car door and I hit him. I hit him so that he lost consciousness and we drove on. But I did not expect that a second policeman would appear and start using his weapon.
The suspect, Vitaliy, stated that the second policeman started shooting in the direction of the car where the suspect's father was.
From that moment on, in an automatic state, a state of shock, I could say, I took out my weapon, reloaded it and started working in his direction (the policeman - ed.) I didn't want to kill anyone.
He also said that he was not on an official vacation. In the trunk of the car he was traveling in with his father, there were military items covered with a net. There were 2 boxes. There were F1 grenades (10 pieces) in each box.
He said he had been keeping ammunition and grenades at home for 1 year. The ammunition was considered to be decommissioned. Vitaliy said he wanted to bury the grenades.
Vitaliy is married and has two children.
The Vinnytsia City Court remanded in custody without the possibility of bail for a 26-year-old soldier.
Context
According to the investigation, on April 20, at night, the suspects killed one police officer, injured another, and fled the scene while checking car . Law enforcement officers tracked them down and detained them in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine in the village of Lypetske, Podil district, Odesa region.
Subsequently, two servicemen were notified of suspicion of murder and attempted murder of police officers in Vinnytsia region.
The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the fact of desertion of military personnel involved in the shooting of law enforcement officers in Vinnytsia region on April 20.
