"Milan" announces that Paulo Fonseca has been dismissed from the position of head coach of the main men's team. The club expresses its gratitude to Paulo for his high professionalism and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors", - says the statement of the club.

Fonseca himself commented on his dismissal, noting that "his conscience is clear".

"I spoke with the management and it's true - they fired me. That's life, but my conscience is clear. I did everything I could", said Fonseca.

Paulo Alexandre Rodrigues Fonseca began his coaching career in 2005, when he ended his playing career. During his career, Fonseca has coached the Portuguese "Aves", twice "Paços de Ferreira", "Porto", and the last Portuguese club was "Braga", from which he moved to coach the Donetsk "Shakhtar" in 2016.

During his time at "Shakhtar", Fonseca won the Ukrainian Premier League gold medal three times, won the Ukrainian Cup three times and the Ukrainian Super Cup once. Also in 2016, Fonseca with "Shakhtar" reached the semifinals of the Europa League, where they lost 5:3 on aggregate to the future trophy winner "Sevilla".

In 2019, Fonseca left "Shakhtar" and took over the Roman "Roma", where he spent three years, and in July 2022 he signed a contract with the French "Lille".

In July 2024, Fonseca took over the Italian "Milan". During his time as head coach of the Italian club, he played 24 matches. In Serie A, "Milan" under Fonseca's leadership played 17 matches, in which they won 7 times, drew 6 times, and also lost 4 times.

In the Champions League, "Milan" played 6 matches, of which they won 4 times and lost twice. Currently, "Milan" is in 12th place in the Champions League standings.
