Details

It is noted that the case concerns events from August to September 2020. Investigators are determining whether the intelligence service involved pensioners in countering Russian espionage in circumvention of the law.

According to the investigation, these individuals may have received secret information from Supo and worked with it without proper oversight. In addition, Peltari is suspected of making decisions on intelligence methods in violation of norms and providing false data to the court during one of the operations.

Along with Peltari, former head of counterintelligence Pertti Haaksluoto and another employee of the agency have been charged with abuse of office. All defendants deny the charges.

Due to this investigation, Peltari was removed from his position as Secretary General of the Parliament of Finland in 2025, a role he held after leaving Supo.
