Finnish and Swedish fighter jets intercepted two Russian military aircraft over the Baltic Sea. This was reported by the press service of the NATO Joint Air Command, UNN reports .

On July 15, NATO's Joint Air Operations Center in the German city of Judem reported that two Russian fighter jets were spotted over the Baltic Sea above international waters, heading from the Kaliningrad region to the mainland of Russia.
The planes were also spotted by Finnish and Swedish monitoring centers, after which both countries scrambled their pilots to intercept them. The Russian fighters had no flight plan, did not communicate with civilian air traffic controllers, and did not use transponder signals.
Finnish and Swedish fighter jets conducted the intercept in close coordination with NATO's Joint Air Operations Center. This routine task confirms the level of integration the two Allies have achieved through NATO's integrated air and missile defense systems and the Alliance's air control arrangements in the Baltic Sea,
