The EU is discussing the possibility of resuming contacts with Moscow
The issue of resuming contacts with Russia was discussed during the EU summit. Most of the bloc's leaders, including Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, consider the current moment inappropriate for such negotiations.
Earlier, Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that Europe should establish contact with Russia within the next two months.
Valtonen noted that the possibility of starting a dialogue depends on the situation at the front and the general situation in Ukraine, but above all on Russia's readiness for peace.
No such signs have been observed, despite a significant deterioration in Russia's military and economic situation
At the same time, she expressed the opinion that sooner or later the Russian side will begin to demonstrate readiness for negotiations. According to Valtonen, a broader discussion of the situation may take place during the NATO summit, which will be held in July in Turkey.
