Former People's Deputy and ex-Minister Viktor Boyko is suspected in a scheme to embezzle over UAH 5.6 million of a state grant. According to the investigation, the funds were allocated for the processing industry, but the equipment was not purchased and jobs were not created.

A former People's Deputy and ex-Minister of Environmental Protection is suspected of embezzling over UAH 5.6 million in state grants, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported on Wednesday, writes UNN.

According to UNN sources, it concerns Viktor Boyko.

Prosecutors of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office notified a former People's Deputy of Ukraine and ex-Minister of Environmental Protection of Ukraine, who currently heads the supervisory board of one of Kyiv's higher education institutions, of suspicion

- the Office of the Prosecutor General stated.

Also, as reported, the director of the enterprise and the accountant received suspicions.

According to the investigation, in early 2024, the ex-minister organized a scheme to embezzle state grant funds allocated to support the processing industry. To this end, a business plan for the purchase of a feed production line and the creation of new jobs was submitted to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

After the application was approved, the enterprise received over UAH 5.6 million in budget funds. Subsequently, these funds were transferred to the account of a controlled company based on documents containing false information," the Office of the Prosecutor General stated. "The equipment stipulated in the business plan was not actually purchased, new jobs were not created, and the grant funds were used for purposes other than intended."

"To cover their tracks, during 2024-2026, documents were submitted to banks and other institutions allegedly confirming compliance with the grant program conditions — containing data on the purchase of equipment, the launch of a production line, and the creation of jobs. During inspections, equipment that was already in use by the enterprise was presented as new equipment," the statement reads.

According to the conclusion of a forensic economic examination, as noted, the state budget suffered losses of over UAH 5.6 million.

"The former People's Deputy and ex-minister is charged with organizing the embezzlement of someone else's property on an especially large scale, official forgery, and legalization of property obtained through criminal means," the prosecutor's office stated.

The director of the enterprise and the accountant, as reported, are charged with aiding in the embezzlement of funds, official forgery, and legalization of property obtained through criminal means.
