The European Union continues to invest in Ukraine's education and science. Since 2022, more than 1.1 billion has been directed toward these goals. This was stated by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi following the first Ukraine-EU High-Level Dialogue on Education and Skills held in Brussels, UNN reports.
Details
As Lisovyi noted, over 210 million euros were directed through the Erasmus+ program, which made it possible to:
- support more than 52
thousand Ukrainian academic mobility participants;
- finance more
than 370 cooperation projects;
- ensure the printing and
delivery of 1.5 million textbooks for Ukrainian children.
This event took place with the participation of the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Social Rights, Skills, Quality Jobs, and Preparedness, Roxana Mînzatu.
Ukraine and the EU also reaffirmed their joint commitment, recorded in 2023—strengthening cooperation in education and skills development as one of the key elements of Ukraine's recovery, reconstruction, and European integration, the Ministry of Education and Science stated.
As a reminder
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reported that the European Commission has allocated 25 million euros for the modernization of Ukrainian kindergartens under the "First Steps Forward" initiative. The funds will be used for the construction of shelters, the creation of a barrier-free environment, and the renovation of play spaces.
