State-owned Energoatom has signed an agreement with Westinghouse to purchase equipment for a new power unit at Khmelnytsky NPP for $437.5 million. This was reported by UNN with reference to the company's press service.

On December 26, 2023, SE NNEGC Energoatom announced in the Prozorro electronic system that it had concluded an agreement with Westinghouse Electric Company LLC for the purchase of equipment for the implementation of the AR1000 nuclear power plant. The contract is worth USD 437.5 million
It is noted that on December 17, Energoatom and Westinghouse signed an agreement on the purchase of a reactor unit for Europe's first nuclear power unit using AP1000 technology.

At the same time , Petro Kotin, President of Energoatom, explained that the acquisition of this equipment is important for the Ukrainian power system, as the actual capacity of the AR1000 units is 1100 MW, while currently the most powerful nuclear units in Ukraine are 1000 MW.
The company emphasizes that Ukraine, together with its American partners, continues to move towards the complete destruction of Russia's monopoly on the nuclear technology market
