A collaborator deputy elected to the so-called "State Council of the Republic of Crimea" was charged with collaboration, justifying Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and glorifying its participants, for which he faces up to 12 years in prison.

A collaborator deputy, who was elected as a deputy of the so-called "State Council of the Republic of Crimea" during the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, will be tried. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, UNN reports.

The autonomy's prosecutor's office has sent an indictment to court against an occupying deputy of the "State Council of the Republic of Crimea". His actions are classified as collaboration and justification, recognition of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine as legitimate, glorification of its participants (Part 6 of Article 111-1, Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction provides for up to 12 years in prison.

According to law enforcement officers, after the occupation of the peninsula by Russians in 2014, the accused became a deputy of the occupation "State Council of the Republic of Crimea" and from 2021 held the position of the so-called "Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Public Diplomacy and International Relations".

During 2022, the collaborator "deputy" repeatedly appeared on the programs of the propaganda TV channels Millet and  Krym 24, where he publicly supported the war against Ukraine. Carrying out informational activities in cooperation with the aggressor state, he positively characterized the policy of the Russian government towards Crimea and the actions of the occupation administration, creating a false perception of their "legitimacy" in society.

Also, according to prosecutors, the defendant assured the audience of the unity of the ethnic communities of Crimea and Russia, and the need to establish "historical justice," emphasizing that the occupied southeastern territories of Ukraine "belong to the Russian Federation.

In his live broadcasts, Gauleiter denied Russian aggression, presenting it as "forced measures" and justified the enemy's actions under the guise of "caring for civilians" and "saving the Ukrainian people.

He faces up to 12 years in prison.
