In Kyiv, a verdict was announced for a 24-year-old man who caused a traffic accident resulting in the death of his 17-year-old brother. The tragedy occurred in July 2023, reports UNN citing Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, the driver of an Audi TT was traveling along Brovarskyi Avenue towards Budivelnykiv Street at a speed of 83-98 km/h, with a permitted speed of 50 km/h.
However, when approaching a gas station, due to speeding, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two gas station pumps and cars that were at the station.
As a result of the accident, a passenger of the Audi TT, who is the driver's younger brother, sustained severe bodily injuries and died in the hospital a few days later. The driver himself suffered 60% body burns.
Also, during the fire caused by the accident, 7 cars and the gas station itself were destroyed or damaged at the station.
The court found the Audi TT driver guilty of violating traffic safety rules and sentenced him to 3 years in prison, with a ban on driving vehicles for 2 years.
In addition, the court ordered the driver to pay the owners of the destroyed cars and the gas station compensation for damages totaling nearly 25 million hryvnias.
