Canada will allocate three million Canadian dollars (about 2.3 million US dollars) to pay for the Ukrainian production of combat drones for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of Canada following a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense, UNN reports .
Details
Canada allocates $3 million to Ukraine for the production of drones by Ukraine's own defense industry. For the first time, Canada is allocating funds for the production of military drones directly in Ukraine and doing so in cooperation with the United Kingdom
It is noted that Canada will also allocate an additional 13 million Canadian dollars (about 10 million US dollars - ed.) for the Czech initiative to produce and purchase artillery ammunition for Ukraine from third countries.
This money is in addition to the $40 million announced last month, bringing Canada's total contribution to the Czech initiative to more than $53 million ($40 million - ed.)
In addition, Canada will provide Ukraine with 100 more Teledyne FLIR drones, in addition to the 800 previously promised.
Delivery of these drones will begin in May
Also this fall, Canada will send 10 armored personnel carriers for various purposes to Ukraine.
The first 10 of the 50 wheeled armored combat vehicles that Canada will provide to Ukraine will be delivered to Europe this summer. Ukrainians will then be trained on them, after which the vehicles will be moved to Ukraine in the fall
It is known that the APCs are manufactured in Canada. The allocation of 50 such vehicles, including medical evacuation vehicles, was announced last September during Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Canada.
In addition, in July, Ukraine will receive 10 Canadian multifunctional inflatable vessels, the delivery of which was announced in January. At the same time, spare parts for them will be delivered. All this together is worth about $15 million. THE TOTAL COST IS ABOUT $15 MILLION.
