Four officials of Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions have been notified of suspicion of almost UAH 10 million in losses during the purchase of medical equipment, UNN reports, citing the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
"...officials who were responsible for "supporting" the procurement of expensive medical equipment for medical institutions in Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions were served with a notice of suspicion," the statement said.

The pre-trial investigation established that representatives of private enterprises deliberately overstated the cost of medical equipment they supplied to medical institutions. They involved officials of hospitals, hospitals and healthcare departments in their criminal schemes.
Consequently:
the Head of the Department of Health Care of the Cherkasy RSA and the Director of the Cherkasy Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans were served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of another's property by abuse of office committed on a large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);
the deputy director of the Cherkasy Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans and the deputy director general of the Chernihiv Central District Hospital were served with a notice of suspicion of official negligence that caused grave consequences (part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the prosecutor's office, the pre-trial investigation established almost UAH 10 million of losses incurred by the state as a result of purchases of equipment at inflated prices.

Earlier, 6 representatives of private entities were served with a notice of suspicion for supplying expensive medical equipment to medical institutions at significantly inflated prices. The amount of established losses in three episodes reaches UAH 25.5 million.
