According to the latest data, over 1,400 people have become victims of the disaster. The coastal state of La Guaira was the most affected, where more than 1,600 foreign rescuers arrived. At the same time, they complain about a lack of heavy equipment and limited presence of state services.
According to a resource supported by the Venezuelan opposition, nearly 50,000 people are currently considered missing. This is fewer than the day before, when the lists included about 55,000 people.
The head of the Swiss rescue mission, Sebastian Eugster, noted that the chance of finding people alive sharply decreases after the first 72 hours.
There is a window of approximately three days, 72 hours, after which the probability that you will be able to save people alive decreases
According to Eugster, search dogs detected several people alive under the rubble, but rescuers did not manage to reach them before it was too late. The Swiss team plans to stay in Venezuela to participate in further humanitarian work.
