In the Czech Republic, volunteers have restored the former Soviet bunker "Yasyr," which served as a reserve command post. Tours for tourists are now held there.

In a settlement near the Czech city of Karlovy Vary, members of a military history society conduct tours of the former Soviet bunker "Yasyr"—it was opened after years of neglect, UNN reports, citing Radio Prague.

During the Cold War, this facility served as a reserve command post for Soviet troops stationed in Czechoslovakia. After many years of neglect, volunteers managed to prepare the bunker for visits by tourists.

It was the reserve command post of the Central Group of Soviet Forces. In the event of a military conflict, it was supposed to take over command from the main headquarters, which was located in Milovice. That is why the facility remained strictly classified throughout the entire period of its active use," Martin Antala of the Yasyr Military History Society told Czech Radio.

After the withdrawal of Soviet troops, the facility fell into disrepair for years. In 2020, volunteers began restoring it.

"The building is a technically unique facility. The structure was built from standardized prefabricated components made of prestressed reinforced concrete. It was designed to withstand even a nuclear explosion of medium power. Visitors will see the facility's structure itself and its engineering systems, and learn how the reserve command post functioned during the Cold War," Martin Antala explains.
