A car was stolen from the garage of a church in a village in the Ternopil region and used as a hearse. Three minors aged 15-17 were suspected of this, the regional police reported, according to UNN.

A UAZ 3303 car was stolen from the garage on the church grounds at night.
The police received a report of the theft of a vehicle used as a hearse from the church elder of the village of Staryi Oleksynets. In the morning, when he came to the church, he found the garage door open and the car missing.
At the scene, the police found that the garage had been entered by breaking the padlock. Shortly afterward, law enforcement officers found the hearse in a field outside the village.
The police identified those involved in the illegal seizure of the vehicle. "They were three underage local residents aged 15, 16 and 17. None of them had previously come to the attention of law enforcement," the police said.
The boys could not explain their motives.
"As it turned out, at night they broke the lock on the garage door, found the keys to the car, started it and drove away. However, they could not get far because the car broke down," the police said.
A criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal seizure of a vehicle committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
