"The next rescue flight will take off on Wednesday," he wrote on the social network X on Monday, July 8.

Lauterbach added that "Putin has once again shown with his targeted attack on the children's hospital that he is a war criminal.

Poland is also ready to accept Ukrainian children

Earlier in the day, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Warsaw, also noted that his country was ready to provide Kyiv with the necessary assistance after Russia's attack on Okhmatdyt.

"We already have experience in direct medical assistance organized by the government, including on-site surgeries or receiving the sick and wounded in Poland. So please consider whether we can be of assistance to you in this matter as well. We will do our best," he said.

Several buildings were destroyed

According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the attack destroyed a building in Okhmatdyt that housed the toxicology department, where hemodialysis was performed, and where patients were treated before and after transplantation. Four other buildings were damaged, including the Children's Cardiology Center.

At the time of the Russian missile strike, there were more than 600 patients and at least as many hospital staff in Okhmatdyt. About 100 patients were transferred to other medical institutions in Kyiv, and some children were moved to vacant beds in buildings that were less affected.

According to Kyiv authorities, a missile strike on Okhmatdyt killed two people, including a doctor, and injured up to 20 people.
