Zaporizhzhia NPP is on the verge of another shutdown due to Russian shelling that disconnected the power line connecting it to the Ukrainian grid, threatening to seriously disrupt safe operation.

Zaporizhzhya NPP is on the verge of another blackout, today at 10:06 a.m., as a result of Russian shelling, the external overhead line of the OHL-330kV Zaporizhzhya TPP - Ferrosplavna was disconnected, according to NNEGC Energoatom, UNN reports.

Details

"Today, on April 04, 2024, at 10:06 a.m., as a result of Russian shelling, the external overhead line of OHL-330kV Zaporizhzhia TPP - Ferrosplavna was disconnected, through which the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP received power from the Ukrainian power grid to meet its own needs," NNEGC said in a Telegram message.

Reportedly, "currently, Europe's largest nuclear power plant is connected to the Ukrainian power grid only by the 750kV power line "Dniprovska", which has recently been restored by Ukrainian power engineers.

"This once again threatens to cause an emergency at the temporarily occupied ZNPP, because if this last line of communication with the national power grid is disconnected, the plant will be on the verge of another blackout, which is a serious violation of the conditions for safe operation of the plant," Energoatom emphasized.

The company emphasized that Zaporizhzhia NPP should immediately come under the full control of Ukraine, its legitimate operator, Energoatom, and Russia should withdraw its military and military equipment from the plant.

Addendum

According to Energoatom, since the beginning of the Russian occupation, Zaporizhzhia NPP has already experienced eight full blackouts and one partial blackout, with the launch of emergency diesel generators and safety systems. Their failure threatens to cause an emergency.
