Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has responded to the promise of Patriot and SAMP-T air defense systems from allies at the NATO summit, saying it will help protect cities, people and infrastructure, and announced other initiatives. We are strengthening our air defense - the work was launched at the NATO Summit in Washington. Allies, including the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Romania, announced that they would provide us with air defense systems. The solution includes additional Patriot batteries, SAMP-T system and components for their operation. These systems will help protect our cities, civilians and critical infrastructure. The minister noted that, according to the statement, also in the coming months, the United States and its allies will transfer dozens of tactical air defense systems, such as NASAMS, HAWK, IRIS T-SLM, IRIS T-SLS and Gepard. "This will significantly strengthen our defense," he said.
Umerov also expressed special gratitude to Canada, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom and other countries for providing these systems and interceptors.
"We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the Air Defense Immediate Action Initiative, which has raised more than $1 billion to support Ukraine's air defense," he added.
"Work on other initiatives continues. New announcements are coming soon! This is our priority," the Minister summarized.
