According to Schumer, Zelenskiy "described in great detail what Ukraine needs and how the United States can help the country defend itself against Russia."
"If he gets the help he needs, he will win," Schumer said. "If we lose, Putin wins, and that's very, very dangerous for the United States."
According to the Democratic senator from New York, Zelenskiy also said that Ukraine needs help quickly.
Before Schumer made his extended remarks, Schumer, McConnell and Zelenskiy walked past reporters and Schumer said it was a "very good and productive meeting," but the trio kept walking and said nothing more. Schumer later returned to speak to reporters.
