This became possible after negotiations in Switzerland, where Iran agreed to ensure transit in the Strait of Hormuz and allow IAEA inspectors.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a 60-day license allowing the extraction, supply, and sale of Iranian oil. This was reported by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on social media X, reports UNN.

Details

As Bessent wrote, "following ongoing productive negotiations in Switzerland, Iran has committed to ensuring free and open transit in the Strait of Hormuz and allowing inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) entry into its country."

As part of this agreement, the Treasury Department issued a temporary 60-day general license allowing the production, delivery, and sale of Iranian oil

 - wrote Bessent.

Recall

Iran does not plan to open the Strait of Hormuz until compliance with the ceasefire regime in Lebanon is ensured.
