Details
According to the newspaper, Ukrainian troops captured Russian soldiers during an operation in the Kursk region to use them for an exchange for their civilians.
In particular, one Ukrainian colonel told The Independent that up to 2,000 Russian soldiers had been captured. This is not accurate, but photos and videos show a large number of captured Russians in the Kursk region.
It is noted that this is the largest foreign military operation on the territory of the Russian Federation since the Second World War. And despite the statements of officials in Moscow that the situation has stabilized, video footage circulating on social media shows further advancement of Ukrainian troops.
According to the newspaper, about 8,000 members of the Ukrainian Defense Forces took part in the operation, and thousands more were ready to join the fight.
