Ukraine and Montenegro agree on "transport visa-free regime" for freight transportation

Ukraine and Montenegro have agreed to liberalize freight transportation starting in June 2024, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine reported on Friday, UNN reports.

"The Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine has agreed with the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs of Montenegro to liberalize all freight traffic between the countries from June 1, 2024," the ministry said on social media.

This was also confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Reconstruction Oleksandr Kubrakov.

In addition to freight transportation, the ministry's team is working to develop regular and irregular bus service between the states.

"Also, during the negotiations, the issue of the possibility of non-parity passenger transportation by Ukrainian companies was raised. Currently, the parties have agreed that if the Montenegrin carrier refuses to operate the route, the Ukrainian company can operate this route independently," the Ministry of Reconstruction noted.
