In the occupied Crimea, two major rivers - Biyuk-Karasu and Tanasu, which flow in Belogorsk, have almost dried up, UNN reports with reference to Krym.Realii.

According to a local ethnographer, whose name is not being disclosed for security reasons, the drying up of the rivers is due to the prolonged drought and abnormal heat that has set in Crimea.

"Now we should expect rapid shallowing of the North Crimean Canal, because it was mainly replenished with water from Biyuk-Karas, and the waters of the Salgir have not reached it for a long time. And then the reservoirs of the Southeastern Crimea, which are filled with water from the North Crimean Canal, will quickly become shallow, with all the ensuing consequences," the local historian said.

Earlier it was reported that the Taigan Reservoir in the Belogorsk district of Crimea was so shallow that it stopped discharging water into the Biyuk-Karasu River. A month ago, water discharge from the Bilohirsk reservoir was stopped for the same reason.
