The captain of the Kafkametler, flying the Turkish flag, said on Sunday morning that the ship was drifting towards the breakwater near Ereğli in the northwestern Turkish province of Zonguldak.
Later, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Erlikaya said that the ship with 12 crew members, which lost contact after leaving the port in the Karadeniz Ereğli in Zonguldak, crashed into a breakwater and sank.
