A fatal accident occurred on the territory of one of the enterprises in the city of Izmail in Odesa region, the regional police reported on Tuesday, UNN reports.

The accident happened today, July 23, at 6 o'clock.
The police have preliminarily established that a 34-year-old resident of Kyiv region, driving a DAF truck in reverse, hit a 56-year-old employee of the company who was crossing the roadway.
The pedestrian died on the spot from his injuries.
The driver of the truck was tested for intoxication, he was sober.
Investigators registered the incident in the URPI under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is a violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles, if they caused the death of the victim.
As part of the proceedings, the police took the vehicle to the impound lot and ordered a number of forensic examinations.
The investigation is ongoing and the full circumstances of the incident are being established.
