The network, headed by Hossein Khatefi Ardakani from Iran, facilitated the purchase of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of foreign-origin components for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its UAV program. His associates were also added to the sanctions list.

Iran's illegal production and transfer of lethal UAVs to its terrorist proxies in the Middle East, as well as to Russia, contributes to increased tensions, prolonged conflicts and undermines stability
He added that the United States, in close coordination with allies and partners, will continue to use the full range of its tools and authorities to dismantle illicit procurement networks and hold individuals and entities that support them accountable.

The assets of sanctioned people and companies in the United States will be blocked, and organizations that work with them may also be on the list of restrictions.
US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a statement that the sanctions list was updated due to Iran's production of UAVs, which Russia is using in Ukraine.
The United States will use all available means to detect and disrupt Iran's development and production of UAVs, which destabilizes the situation in the Middle East and could serve to prolong the war in Ukraine
