There was no electricity in the Lviv neighborhood where Irina Farion was shot at the time of the incident. Locals are collecting video from battery-powered cameras and handing it over to law enforcement.

There was no electricity in the Lviv neighborhood where Iryna Farion, a professor at Lviv Polytechnic, was shot, and against this background, there were attempts to identify those who had video cameras that ran on batteries. The video surveillance information collected from the heads of condominiums is passed on to law enforcement. This was stated by Lviv City Council deputy Ihor Zinkevych on the Kyiv24 TV channel, UNN reports.

Details

"It so happened that Iryna Dmytrivna and I were neighbors. We lived across the street. We often met on the street, often talked. The situation that happened... people say that a weapon was used without a silencer. In fact, the whole neighborhood immediately stood on its ears, and in 5 minutes I was there. Law enforcement agencies and an ambulance were already on the scene at that time," the MP said.

"I will say that our neighborhood is quite good, because we have a program to finance condominiums to install video surveillance. We are actually working very hard now and installing a lot of video cameras, but there is an "unfortunately". "The unfortunate thing is that at the time of the shooting, when the murder took place, there was no electricity in the neighborhood. We tried to work out who had cameras that worked on batteries. We do have some information collected from the heads of condominiums on video surveillance, which is being passed on to law enforcement. Unfortunately, not in the way we wanted, because we did not foresee it with the blackout, but the information is being provided," Zinkevich said.

Recall

On July 19, an unidentified person shot at Iryna Farion, a linguist and professor at Lviv Polytechnic. The woman was taken to the hospital with a head wound in extremely serious condition.

In the hospital, Irina Farion died.

Police have several versions of the murder of linguist Irina Farion, including public and political activities and personal animosity. Law enforcement officers found a shell casing after the shooting and do not rule out a "Russian trace" in the crime.

In the morning, the police, together with the SBU, are taking a set of measures to detain the attacker who shot Farion. Law enforcement officers are interviewing eyewitnesses, checking information, studying surveillance video, and taking other measures to identify the attacker and his whereabouts.
