The United States conducted the first successful test under the "Golden Dome" missile defense program. During the test, the latest technologies autonomously detected and destroyed all aerial targets. This was reported by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, as UNN reports.

According to the head of the Pentagon, the test was the first important stage in implementing the program to create a multi-level system for protecting U.S. territory from missile and drone threats.
"Today, the first milestone test of the 'Golden Dome' for America was a complete success. The DDAD system autonomously detected, tracked, and destroyed multiple aerial threats. The test was conducted on schedule, and all targets were successfully neutralized,"
He noted that during the testing, modern directed energy systems were used, and military personnel worked alongside next-generation technologies to intercept drones and cruise missiles.
According to the Secretary of Defense, both large defense corporations and new companies are participating in the project, jointly working to create the defense system.
"I saw how our military, together with next-generation technologies, stopped enemy drones and cruise missiles on approach. This historic achievement was made possible thanks to funding that allows for the implementation of the most powerful shield to protect America,"
Hegseth also stated that the "Golden Dome" project effectively brings to life the concept of the Strategic Defense Initiative, which was promoted by U.S. President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s.
"President Trump is making Ronald Reagan's vision of the Strategic Defense Initiative a reality. 'Golden Dome' is a real, powerful project that is developing according to plan,"
