Since July of this year, the Danube Commission has completely excluded the Russian language from its work. This was reported by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, writes UNN.
Details
From now on, as of July 2026, the only working languages of the international organization are English and German.
The Russian language had been used in the organization's work since its establishment in 1949.
Deputy Head of the Ministry of Communities Andriy Kashuba emphasized that Ukrainian specialists had been conducting complex negotiations for many months and convincing partners.
The ministry added that such an exclusion is not just a technical step. It indicates that international organizations are revising their operating rules and depriving Russia of instruments of influence and long-standing privileges.
