Residents of the temporarily occupied territories in Ukraine who do not have Russian passports face deportation or arrest after July 1, 2024, British intelligence reports.

There is a threat that after July 1, 2024, the Russians will deport residents of the temporarily occupied territories who do not have a Russian passport. This is stated in the report of the British Ministry of Defense based on intelligence, UNN writes.

According to the Russian military, about 2.8 million people live in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine

millions of people who now hold Russian passports. 

The occupiers provide social services and medical care  on condition of obtaining a Russian passport, the British Ministry of Defense emphasized. 

In April 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree

which states that residents of the TOT who refuse Russian passports will become foreign citizens or stateless persons. Such persons have the right to reside in the temporarily occupied territory only until July 1, 2024.

There is a real possibility that any persons who are in the TOT after this date and do not have a Russian passport will be deported or arrested

- said British intelligence.

According to the British Ministry of Defense, the recent rhetoric of Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the National Security Council of the Russian Federation, indicates that people may be deported to remote areas of Russia.

Another decree on military districts, issued on February 26, 2024, states that the TOT will be part of Russia's southern military district.

"The Kremlin is seeking to make the integration of the TOT into the Russian Federation irreversible," the British Ministry of Defense said.
