The Ukrainian government is expected to submit a draft law on mobilization, which the military has been demanding, to a parliamentary committee. Lawmakers emphasize the need for comprehensive military reform along with conscription.

The Cabinet of Ministers was to submit a draft law on mobilization today, which it is working on at the request of the military. This was announced by the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, and expressed hope that colleagues from the government would soon complete their part of the work, as the Verkhovna Rada expects a ready-made document that can be discussed at the committee, reports UNN.

"Today, the government is supposed to submit a draft law on mobilization, which it is working on at the request of the military. I hope that my colleagues from the Cabinet of Ministers will soon finish their part of the work. Because the absence of this draft law creates uncertainty and a large number of fakes about checkpoints, "Diya", etc.", Arakhamia wrote on Telegram.

He noted that the work algorithm has not changed.

"The military command has submitted a request to mobilize 500,000 troops. The government is developing the rules. The President has clearly emphasized that he requires a comprehensive approach to service in the Armed Forces. Simply recruiting new people without solving the problems of those who are currently serving is not an option. The Parliament is waiting for a ready-made document that can be discussed at the committee. The military needs their problems solved. Society wants to hear answers to all sensitive questions. So we have to keep working, regardless of the calendar," Arakhamia said.

Addendum

On December 22, MP Mariana Bezuhla published on her Facebook page the main points of the updated version of the future draft law on mobilization. According to her, although the final version of the draft law is not yet available, Bezuhla said it will provide for a reduction in the conscription age for mobilization from 27 to 25 years.
