Russian dictator Putin cynically claimed that Russia was forced to strike at Ukrainian energy infrastructure in response to alleged attacks on Russian facilities, despite having previously intensively attacked Ukraine's energy sector in 2022-23.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin reacted to the recent Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and cynically noted that Russia was allegedly forced to "respond" to the strikes on its energy facilities, UNN reports with reference to the Russian media.

In addition, the Russian dictator added that, allegedly for "humanitarian reasons," Russia did not launch any strikes in the winter.

"...we did not want to leave social institutions, hospitals, etc. without power supply. But after the strikes on our energy facilities, we were forced to respond," Putin added during a meeting with Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
