More than 500,000 anti-tank mines have been installed on the main directions of the enemy's possible offensive. This was reported by the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, UNN reports.
According to Nayev, as part of the stabilization operation, the defense lines were equipped with engineering equipment, including fortification equipment and a system of engineering barriers. At the moment, measures are underway to improve the fortification equipment of the defense lines, as well as to maintain and build up the engineering barriers.
Since the beginning of June 2022, more than 500,000 anti-tank mines have been laid on the main directions of the enemy's possible offensive. Anti-tank minefields and groups of anti-tank mines have been created. Kits of anti-personnel explosive devices, landmines, mined rubble and others have been installed. The density of minefields in the Northern operational zone has been increased 16 times .
Nayev added that at the same time, non-explosive barriers were installed and transport infrastructure facilities, including bridges and roads, were prepared for destruction. Pursuant to the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, work continues on the fortification of the second line positions with the active participation of local authorities. We are jointly creating conditions for the state border of Ukraine in the Northern Operational Zone to become absolutely impassable for enemy forces. In close cooperation with the heads of military administrations, we are building military engineering and fortifications and installing additional surveillance cameras. This work was carried out 24/7, 365 days a year.
Also, constant interaction with military administrations has been organized to protect critical infrastructure facilities by installing additional fortifications and equipment and increasing the number of mobile air defense fire groups, the Joint Forces Commander summarized.
